Mike Tyson Halted Marijuana Use Ahead of Big Comeback Fight
On November 28, 54-year-old Mike Tyson is set to fight 51-year-old Roy Jones. Ahead of facing his long-time rival in this comeback exhibition fight, Tyson has given up marijuana. This is but one of many measures he’s taken to ensure that he is ready for this fight, including electric shock muscle therapy.
Tyson, otherwise known as “Iron Mike,” has been outspoken about his fondness for cannabis. In fact, he has spent his retirement focussing on building a business around the medicinal plant. As such, he started Tyson Holistic Holdings and Tyson Ranch. He has been very open about his love for marijuana in recent years.
The world-renowned boxer also confessed that he previously spent around $40,000 per month on marijuana. He says that when he doesn’t use cannabis, he can become mean and he doesn’t like that about himself. The plant helps him calm down and not snap at family members.
However, Tyson has almost completely stopped using marijuana in preparation for this fight to make sure that he is ready to face his opponent, he explained this to podcaster Joe Rogan.
Tyson has had problems with substance abuse in the past. After struggling with hard drugs like cocaine, he finally found peace using marijuana.
Given that Tyson is looking to launch a weed resort in the future, it is unlikely that he will forgo enjoying marijuana after the fight. It appears that this is only a measure to ensure that he gives his best on November 28.
