UK’s First CBD Tampons Have Launched and Women Are Thrilled
Recent research has discovered that 9 in 10 women in the UK suffer from period cramps, and between 40% and 50% of women also experience primary dysmenorrhea, which is a medical term for a painful period.
Over-the-counter painkillers have not actually been tested on female physiology, and they also carry many risks and side-effects, such as gastrointestinal inflammation. This is why the Daye company has been doing research for close to three years and developed a safer alternative to painkillers — CBD tampons.
The company’s founder, Valentina Milanova, said that they had a vision of a world where every woman that owns a smartphone would be able to monitor, understand, and improve their menstrual, reproductive, and sexual health. According to her, the company had 20,000 people on the waiting list during the pre-launch period.
But, how are Daye’s CBD tampons different than the regular ones?
CBD has been known for quite some time for its soothing and lubricating properties, so Daye wanted to make a natural alternative to medication for women who suffer from painful periods. The company uses natural, toxin-free fibers from ethically sourced, organic cotton. Moreover, the fibers are also free from microbial contamination, heavy metals, pesticides, and GMOs, and they are regularly tested so the company is sure that the customers get what they’re promised.
In addition to this, their tampons have a protective sleeve made from organic cotton that prevents fiber loss and reduces the risk of TSS. Daye tampons are sanitized and free from all bacteria, unlike other companies’ tampons, and come in fully compostable packaging.
When it comes to the product itself, the tampons contain 30% whole-plant hemp extract and 100 mg of naturally occurring CBD per tampon. This amount of CBD is enough to soothe both the pain and cramps, but it won’t get you high or show up on a drug test.
The tampons are yet to be tested in outside labs and non-affiliated scientists, but Daye’s research shows that their tampons are as effective as anti-inflammatories.
Tampons can be bought on Daye’s official website.
The customers are able to customize their own subscription box of 12 or 18 tampons, and the price ranges from £7 to £16, depending on which products they choose. Those who aren’t sure which tampons they need can take a Daye’s quiz, and personalize their subscription box according to the quiz results.
It looks like there finally is a way to have a painless period without using painkillers.
